Creamy Banana Boost

Inredients:
¼  pineapple
4 Medjool dates (pitted)
1 small ripe banana
Juice of 1 lemon
300ml / ½ pint / 1 ¼ cups very cold full cream (whole) milk or almond milk

Using a small, sharp knife, cut away the skin and core from the pineapple.  Roughly chop the flesh and put it in a blender or food processor, then add the pitted dates.  Peel and chop the banana and add it to the rest of the fruit together with the lemon juice.  Blend thoroughly until smooth, stopping to scrape the mixture down from the side of the bowl with a rubber spatula, if necessary.  Add the milk to the blender or food processor and process briefly until well combined.  Pour the smoothie into tall glasses and serve immediately.

Dairy-free Deluxe

Ingredients:
2 small eating apples
5 ready-to-eat pitted prunes
juice of 1 orange
60ml / 4 tbsp. soya milk
ice cubes

Using a small, sharp knife, remove the core from the apples and chop into chunks -- but do not peel them.  Push half the chopped apple through a juicer, followed by the prunes and the remaining chopped apple.  Pour the apple and prune juice in a jug (pitcher) and add the orange juice and soya milk.  Whisk lightly until smooth and frothy.  Pour into a chunky glass and serve immediately, adding a few cubes of ice.

Prunes, apples, oranges and soya milk may seem like an unusual combination but the results are absolutely fabulous.  Sweet, caramel-rich and very drinkable, this is a great milkshake for both adults and children, and, of course, anyone on a dairy-free diet.

Pear Flair

Ingredients:
1 large pear
150g/5oz / 1 ¼ cups green grapes
1 Tbsp. wheatgerm
4 Tbsp. soya or dairy yogurt
ice cubes

Using a vegetable peeler, peel the pear and chop the flesh into large chunks of roughly the same size.  Push half the pear chunks through a juicer, followed by the grapes and then the remaining chunks of pear.  Transfer the juice to a small jug (pitcher).  Add the wheatgerm to the yogurt and stir to mix thoroughly.  Pour into the pear and grape juice. Whisking until it is light and frothy.  Pour the milkshake over ice cubes and serve.
